{"id":1033,"date":"2022-03-28T09:57:00","date_gmt":"2022-03-28T14:57:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.phillips66.com\/newsroom\/phillips-66-delivers-first-saf-to-british-airways\/"},"modified":"2024-11-19T11:50:46","modified_gmt":"2024-11-19T17:50:46","slug":"phillips-66-delivers-first-saf-to-british-airways","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.phillips66.com\/newsroom\/phillips-66-delivers-first-saf-to-british-airways\/","title":{"rendered":"<span class=\"nowrap\">Phillips 66<\/span> earns new set of wings with delivery of sustainable aviation fuel to British Airways"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An undisputed leader in aviation, Phillips 66 has earned a new set of wings.<\/p>\n<p>The company made history last week with its first-ever delivery of sustainable aviation fuel to British Airways from its Humber Refinery in the U.K. as part of a multiyear supply agreement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPhillips 66 Humber Refinery is proud to supply British Airways with sustainable aviation fuel,\u201d said&nbsp;<strong>Darren Cunningham<\/strong>, General Manager of Humber Refinery and Phillips 66\u2019s Lead Executive in the U.K. \u201cThe strategic collaboration and supply agreement confirm each companies\u2019 commitment to a lower-carbon future.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The SAF produced at Humber will help power a number of British Airways flights. The fuel is produced from sustainable waste feedstock at the refinery, and British Airways will add it into the existing pipeline infrastructure that feeds several U.K. airports, including London Heathrow.<\/p>\n<p>Adding to a string of firsts in recent years, Humber, too, made history as the first U.K. refinery to make and supply SAF at scale. The refinery has processed waste feedstocks into renewable fuels since 2018.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were the first in the U.K. to co-process waste oils to produce renewable diesel, and now we are the first to produce SAF at scale,\u201d Cunningham said. \u201cWe\u2019re currently refining almost half a million liters (about 3,000 barrels) of sustainable waste feedstocks a day, and this is just a start.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-embed-handler wp-block-embed-embed-handler\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div style=\"position:relative;width:100%;height:0;padding-bottom:56.25%\"><iframe src=\"https:\/\/phillips66.widen.net\/view\/video\/mc5dcjtwmh\/British-Airways_Sustainable-Aviation-Fuel.mp4?u=ti9duc\" webkitallowfullscreen=\"\" mozallowfullscreen=\"\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\" allowtransparency=\"true\" scrolling=\"no\" style=\"position:absolute;top:0;left:0;width:100%;height:100%;\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n<h6 style=\"margin-left:40px\">In this video from British Airways, Humber Process Engineer Linda Winstanley explains part of the process for producing sustainable aviation fuel.<\/h6>\n<p>\nThe SAF delivery is a major milestone for Phillips 66, a leading U.S. supplier of jet fuels and aviation gasoline to commercial, private and military aviation.
