EAA\u2019s AirVenture celebrated its 70th<\/sup> anniversary year with memorable activities, workshops, forums, celebrations and more. The world\u2019s largest show in Oshkosh at Wisconsin\u2019s Wittman Regional Airport welcomed 677,000 aviation fans from July 24 \u2013 July 30, 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We were excited to be part of such a remarkable event that brought programming with speakers from around the world,\u201d said Sunny Lopez, Manager, Phillips 66 Aviation. \u201cThis year was especially notable for AirVenture and EAA as EAA celebrated its Platinum Anniversary. Phillips 66 Aviation enjoyed sharing the Spirit of Aviation with forum attendees and Phillips 66 tent visitors.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than 845 commercial exhibitors participated in AirVenture 2023. Phillips 66 returned as an exhibitor and presented the annual EAA Young Eagles Leadership Award, which recognizes exceptional Young Eagles volunteers that have continually supported the future of aviation by exceeding expectations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year, Tom Meadows, a member of EAA Chapter 1073 in Truckee, CA, received the EAA Young Eagles Leadership Award. Tom is a retired Naval Air Crewman. In the fall, he plans to fly his 2,000th<\/sup> Young Eagle mission. He has donated 1,500 flight hours in his Cessna 172 and spent countless hours volunteering on the ground. Additional events Phillips 66 hosted included four seminars led by Keith Clark, Senior Quality Control & Technical Representative, Phillips 66 Aviation. Seminar attendees learned the importance of quality assurance, common themes that occur during aircraft misfuelings and how to prevent them. Overall, there were more than 1,400 forums and workshops to choose from during the event, and thousands visited the Phillips 66 tent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EAA Radio hosted Phillips 66 Aviation as a guest to discuss the importance of verifying fuel type when fueling airplanes as well as the importance of aircraft fuel placards. Listen to the radio interviews here<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout the event, more than 10,000 aircraft landed at airports in Wisconsin, including Wittman Regional Airport, from domestic airports and international airports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
